Thank you for visiting our website. COMCHECS is designed to present health care related students and professionals with simulated scenarios in a safe environment. The center enables the learners to enhance their knowledge and clinical skills and exercise appropriate decision-making to lessen medical errors thus promoting patient safety. This facility can also be used for evaluative purposes. In collaboration with other institutions, COMCHECS aids other health care professionals enhance their clinical practice and orientation.

DMSF College of Medicine Center for Healthcare Simulation (or wildly known as COMCHECS), is located at the second floor of the new ten – story building B of the College of Medicine. With a floor area of around nine hundred square meters, it has a variety of clinical settings such as out–patient consulting cubicles, emergency room, operating room suite, intensive care unit, birthing suite, basic and advance life–support training room, several debriefing rooms, two mini lecture halls and a central control room. Headed by Dr. Fides R. Ababon, who is also the Department Chairperson of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the DMSF COLLEGE OF MEDICINE CENTER FOR HEALTHCARE SIMULATION envisaged to be the hub for clinical simulations training for the post – graduate residency program and clinical research. ...
Depending on the type of clinical setting to be simulated, the DMSF College of Medicine Center for Healthcare Simulation has in it's possession several simulators such as:
1. Training models for basic and advanced life support;
2. Integrated simulators (SimMan, SimJunior, SimBaby, SimMom, etc.) – these simulators combine mannequin/s with advanced computer software that can be adjusted to provide various physiological parameter outputs;
3. Computer – based systems in the form of multimedia program using audio and video systems (Bate’s Guide to Physical Diagnosis, Akland’s Anatomy, Interactive Physiology, etc.);
4. Several medical and surgical instruments and equipment;
Likewise, it shall develop a pool of standardized patients that will cater to the kind of clinical setting to be performed. Aside from the various equipment and simulators, the core faculty of the CHECs underwent training in Singapore at the National University of Singapore (NUS) – Centre for Healthcare simulation to gain knowledge on how to run the whole center. Continuous faculty and staff development will also be done yearly to be at par with latest updates. Lastly, to effect change in learner outcomes, formative and summative assessment of clinical skills will be done. As what Chuckett and Sutherland said, and I quote:

COMCHECS currently offers various workshops and trainings namely; American Heart Association's BLS and ACLS with simulation course, team scenario training in various areas such as Code Blue, etc.; Helping Babies Breath and Helping Mother's Survive training courses and Basic Instructor/s Course for Clinical Simulation. Objective Structured Clinical Examination as a form of evaluation utilizing Standardized Patients and latest innovations such as integrated high fidelity simulators (SimMan, SimJunior, SimBaby, SimMom, SimNewB, etc.), mid-fidelity simulators, low-fidelity task trainers and computer-based virtual patients facilitated by qualified instructors and staff are also offered.
Further, the said workshops and training can be customized to fit each learner's unique needs in alignment with the necessary curriculum that needed to be taught.

SimMan 3G is an advanced patient simulator that can help the learners improve their critical time management, decision making skills, team collaboration, communication skills and handovers between departments. It has features that can be used in different scenario settings and aid learners in practicing many basic and advance practical skills without inflicting or causing harm to a real patient.


SimMom is an advanced full body birthing simulator with an accurate anatomy and functionality that aid in multiple obstetric training of birth management. It has manual and automatic delivery modes. It provides a solution for novice learners and healthcare providers alike to practice and prepare for critical events so that more lives can be saved.


SimJunior represents 6-year-old boy that simulates a wide range of conditions from a healthy, talking child to an unresponsive, critical patient with no vital signs. It allows learners to focus on a broad range of pediatric skills in order to gain exposure and practical experience of life-threatening pediatric problems.


SimBaby is a full-scale simulator has realistic anatomy and clinical functionality to help learners practice and perfect their skills through hands-on experience ensuring best possible outcomes for the youngest of patients.


Harvey provides a comprehensive curriculum by realistically simulating 50 conditions. It is structured to start with common, less complex conditions and progress to more rare and complex diseases.


SimNewB has been designed to be easily integrated into all neonatal clinical training curricula. An innovative user interface and scenario design allows instructors to control the simulator’s responses.
