Recently, the President of the Davao Medical School Foundation, Incorporated, Atty. Alberto Rafael L. Aportadera, J.D., organized a team-building activity and university/hospital tour in Taiwan for the College of Medicine faculty members from March 15-20, 2024. The team visited the National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University, a public research university, and the Taipei Veterans General Hospital, a tertiary referral teaching hospital, to learn more about integrating technology, such as Artificial Intelligence, in improving healthcare delivery and medical education. The team from DMSFI aims to develop advancements and integrate this technology to enhance students’ learning experience.
Dr. Victor E. Espino, the DMSFI Hospital medical director, also joined the team and benchmarked the Taipei Veteran’s General Hospital, a healthcare facility known for its superb hospital information system and AI integration on training modules. The institute is known as one of the best training hospitals in Taiwan.
In addition to the tight schedule, the activity presented an opportunity for the president to engage and get to know the College of Medicine faculty members while visiting historical landmarks and experiencing the beautiful culture of Taiwan. The activity provided much-needed recharge for the faculty, especially after the successful approval of the grueling process of PAASCU accreditation. It is evident that the said activity brought the faculty members closer and united in a common goal of upholding DMSFI’s vision of a healthy community enjoying quality lives.
