9f Conversion

All foreign nationals who are at least 18 years old and shall take up a course of study higher than high school at a University, seminary or college.

Checklist of documentary requirements for conversion to student visa
N

1. Request the following documents to the registrar's office

  • Joint letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the authorized representative of the petitioning school and applicant, using the school letterhead with dry seal;
  • Notice of Acceptance of the applicant bearing a clear impression of the school’s official dry seal;
  • Endorsement addressed to the Commissioner from the school for the conversion of the applicant’s status, signed by the School Registrar;
  • Certificate of Eligibility for Admission from Commission on Higher Education (CHED), in case of Medicine/Dentistry; CHED Endorsement for transfer and shifting of course, if applicable;

2. Duly accomplished CGAF for Student Visa and Special Study Permit

3. Photocopy of passport pages bearing the bio-page, latest admission with valid authorized stay and Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) stamp and result;

4. National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance, if application is filed six (6) months or more from the date of first arrival in the Philippines;

5. 10 copies of 2x2 photo with white background.

Note: Submit all the requirements and the original passport to FSU for checking, once documents is complete you will pay the 9f Conversion fee to the cashier. Go back to FSU and submit a copy of the receipt. When visa is approved the student is called for ACR I-card biometrics.

9f Extension

Foreign nationals who are holders of an existing Student Visa and wishes to continue his study in the Philippines. The student with 9f visa may apply extension two months prior to the visa expiration.

1. Request the following documents to the registrar's office

  • Joint letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the applicant and the authorized representative of the petitioning school, stating that the applicant qualifies for the application with the school letterhead and dry seal;
  • Copy of Latest Transcript of Records or Certificate of Grades for two (2) previous semesters;
  • Commission on Higher Education (CHED) endorsement, in case of shifting of course and/or transfer of school;
  • Notice of Acceptance of the applicant bearing a clear impression of the school’s official dry seal;

2. Duly accomplished CGAF for Student Visa and Special Study Permit

3. Photocopy of passport bio-page, visa implementation page, latest admission with valid authorized stay, photocopy of ACR I-card;

Note: Submit all the requirements and the original passport to FSU for checking, once documents is complete the School Liaison will forward your application to the Bureau of Immigration.

OPS will come out after the evaluation of BI SVS-Quezon City, it will be disseminated thru Facebook group (please follow the page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1719471195021612/) and thru the class External Vice Presidents group.

Special Study Permit (SSP)

Foreign nationals who do not qualify for a Student Visa may still avail themselves of special study permit. A SSP is not a PERMIT, not a visa. It is issued under Temporary Visitor’s Visa of a foreign national.

ACR I-Card

ACR I-Card renewal

If the visa extension is approved you need to apply for your ACR I-card renewal. Requirements for ACR I-Card renewal:

2. Photocopy of passport bio-page, visa implementation page, latest admission with valid authorized stay, photocopy of ACR I-card;

Lost ACR I-Card

This is applied when the student failed to surrender the old ACR I-card/the students lost his/her card. Requirements for lost ACR I-Card:

Cancellation of ACR I-card

Cancellation of ACR I-card is applicable to those who got their visa downgraded from 9f to 9a. Requirements for cancellation of ACR I-Card:

Change of address

Every time the student or any foreign national wish to transfer to another place, they need to inform the BI thru the FSU immediately. Penalty is imposed when the application is submitted after the date of transfer.

1. Fill out Change of Address form in FSU

2. Secure Barangay Certificate indicating the date of transfer.

3. Secure Affidavit for Change of Address to any Law Office.

Note: Submit the following requirements to FSU for checking. Pay the corresponding amount for amendment and penalty (if there is) to the cashier.

Annual report

As provided in Section 10 of R.A. 562 or the Alien Registration Act of 1950 and existing regulations, all registered aliens are required to report in person to the Bureau of Immigration or to any of its offices within the first sixty (60) days of every calendar year. Visa downgrading

Requirements for downgrading of student visa

1. Request the following documents to the Registrar

  • Copy of Latest Transcript of Records or Certificate of Grades;
  • School Clearance;

2. Letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the applicant or authorized school representative stating the reason(s) for downgrading and the date of intended departure;

3. Accomplished CGAF (BI Form CGAF-003-Rev 0);

4. Photocopy of passport bio-page, visa implementation page and the pages bearing the latest admission, departure and valid authorized stay; and

N

5. National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance.

Note: The School will facilitate the submission of the downgrading application to the BI Davao District, the applicant will do the follow up and payment in Manila.

How can I acquire student visa?
  • If you are accepted by the college and have submitted all the necessary documents for admission, you may apply for the Student Visa.

When should I apply for the extension of my visa?
  • You may apply for the visa extension two months before the visa expiry provided that the grades of the previous semester attended is already available. (You may asked Registrar’s office regarding the grades matter). After submission of your application you need to wait for the Order of Payment Schedule (OPS) for you to pay the visa extension amount to the school cashier.
How will I know if my OPS/VISA has been extended/ACR I-Card has arrived?
  • The FSU has created a Facebook group which is intended for the announcements of OPS/VISA Approval/Received ACR I-cards and other posts related to the visa of the students. We do have telegram group also for all the External Vice Presidents, they will disseminate the information to their batch mates. There is no excuse that the student/s will not be informed.
What is an annual report?

  • Since it is the school Liaison who will submit your application to the Bureau, the College will indicate the timeline for Annual Reporting every year. A penalty is imposed for failure to submit on time.
When to apply for change of address?
  • Every time you are going to shift/transfer to another place we need to inform the Bureau of Immigration immediately. You can submit your application before or after shifting to another place. You will pay amendment fee only if you have submitted your application one week before you transfer and penalty is imposed when the application is submitted after the date of transfer.
What is the use of ACR I-Card?
  • Without ACR I-card you cannot depart from the Philippines. It is better to wait for your ACR I-card to be released before booking a flight ticket.
