The Davao Medical School Foundation welcomed the STEM Senior High School Students of the Stella Maris Academy of Davao for their immersion activity last January 11-13, 2023. During the 3-day immersion activity, the students were able to experience activities related to the medical field like DNA extraction, manipulation of birthing mannequin that conducts realistic birth simulation scenarios, and career guidance activities. They also had a tour to some of the school’s facilities such as the Microscope Lab, Funda Laboratory, Research Publication Office, and the Anatomy Museum.
The said activities were facilitated by the following faculty and staff: Ms. Ana Lily Lapeña, RN, MN from the College of Midwifery; Mr. Benito Anthony Pingoy, Mr. Michael Dann Superio, MSc, and Ms. Joanne Jerenice Añonuevo, MSc from the College of Biology; Mr. Daryl Capilitan, RN, Mr. Ronald Allan U. Cayabyab, RN, and Ms. Kristine Carol C. Jamora, RN, MN from the College of Nursing; Dr. Rodolfo B. Mariano II and Dr. Maria Cristina P. Domingo from the College of Dentistry; Ms. Leah Jane Ofima and Ms. Loise Marie Señagan from the Research Publication Office; and Mr. Miguel P. Dailisan and Ms. Ma. Lourdes B. Caminade from the Guidance Office.
The immersion activity aimed to help the Senior High School students gain valuable experiences to better equip them for college and develop their life and career skills, thus enhancing their competence.
