In collaboration with Del Monte Fresh, Davao Medical School Foundation, Incorporated celebrated Earth Day with a Mangrove seedling reforestation activity coastal clean-up drive in Panabo City. The said event was participated by the CSR officials of Del Monte Fresh, CENRO of Panabo City, NSTP students from Dentistry and Midwifery, as well as Systematics students from BS Biology, together with the coordinators and representatives from the External Relations Office, Community Extension Services, Hospital, and BS Biology faculty. The participants planted Four hundred seedlings, which the team hopes will help build natural barriers to reduce shoreline erosion, protect coastal communities against coastal flooding, and create nature-sturdy areas with significant biodiversity worth conserving. In addition, 123 kilograms of plastic waste were recovered, which will be processed later to be converted into plastic chairs and donated to public schools. This joint venture is the first of many activities for the impending partnership between the DMSFI and Del Monte Fresh, as they share a similar vision in promoting health of the people and in conserving nature.
